Challenge at QRPiC 2012
Tim Walford G3PCJ invites entries
for an informal construction challenge to be held at QRPiC 2012 on July 15th at Upton Bridge Farm, near Langport, Somerset.
Well known radio constructor Steve Hartley G0FUW will assess the entries and decide who gets the prize of some local Somerset produce!
The task is to build a receiver for any amateur MF or HF band using no more than 10 discrete components and optionally one integrated circuit and one supply regulator. The choice of all parts is yours! This should allow a reasonable RX to be built and Steve will no doubt be considering the three ‘S’ aspects in his decision – stability, sensitivity and selectivity! There will be a long wire aerial, signal generator, phones and PSU available for your demonstration of the working RX; but use your own if you wish – they don’t count in the parts tally.
The style of construction is not important and can be ‘informal’ just like the photo seen here! No prior entry is required – just turn up with your RX on the day.
Tim says this is the sort of project that most QRP enthusiasts ought to be able to manage and is a project that Clubs might well consider entering in addition to having some sort of stall or display at the event.
He would like to encourage all West Country Clubs to come along, as well as any individual wishing to have some sort of stall or display. Send Tim an email at firstname.lastname@example.org
