CALIMESA — The Yucaipa Valley Amateur Radio Club is offering a course preparing individuals to become licensed ham radio operators. The course is held from 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursdays at Mesa Grande Academy, 975 Fremont St., beginning tonight. The class runs for 12 weeks.

The cost is $30, which covers all instructional materials, and students can opt to pay a $15 fee to take an exam at the end of the class for their ham radio operator license.

The course covers radio theory, operating protocol, and regulations that are required for passing the Federal Communications Commission’s examination for the Technicians Class License.
